KPMG wins audit and restructuring accolades
KPMG in the UK has won two accolades in the Accountancy Age Awards, presented last night in London.
The firm was presented with the Audit Team of the Year award, for its work for the Audit Commission, and Business Recovery Project of the Year, for its innovative work on a CVA for JJB Sports.
KPMG's work for the Audit Commission involved a nationwide team of 200 specialist staff, auditing public services across the UK. The firm achieved a 70% satisfaction score for its work, the highest of all audit firms working for the independent body. Accountancy Age praised KPMG for "delivering value for money and going out of its way to provide the highest quality reporting and service”.
The JJB CVA was developed as part of a three-pronged approach in order to secure a viable future for the high street brand. In addition to the CVA, KPMG advised the company on the negotiation of a standstill agreement with lenders, and the company also disposed of its health club business. The CVA was overwhelmingly welcomed by landlords. The Accountancy Age judges said that "a sustainable future had to be developed for the business and KPMG demonstrated great innovation with its CVA process. It was a terrific result all round.”
Commenting on the awards, Richard Bennison, Chief Operating Officer at KPMG said:
"We were delighted to receive this recognition. Quality of service and innovation are two attributes that are absolutely paramount to KPMG, and these awards recognise that. In tough times for the UK economy, we are committed to helping our clients by drawing on the full range of our people's skills, experience and insights.”
