Education

Education

There is a drive from all political parties to put education and skills at the top of the agenda.

The strength and depth of the skills base of UK plc has never been more crucial in light of the global economic challenges we face.  The education sector is a key component in meeting these challenges, but, for the first time in a number of years this will need to be delivered in a period of tightening public expenditure, high levels of unemployment and a rapidly changing global education environment.

The sector will have to deliver 'more for less' and this will pose a number of management challenges over the next few years.

KPMG is one of the market leading providers of assurance and advisory services in the HE and FE sectors nationally, so please contact us to discuss your issues or requirements.  We have a global network of contacts with strong education credentials and are ideally placed to support you when considering overseas developments.

Want to know what we are doing with our Education clients?  Then read the stories below to see examples of our recent work in this fast-changing market of Education.

Could you be paying to much VAT? Do you supply open access courses? What non-business activities may become subject to VAT? Could you be able to defer VAT payments? Are HMRC coming to visit your HEI?

To find out more on what is applicable to your organisation then do read on.

HEIs are, and will continue, to face a number of sectoral and economic challenges such as student funding caps, low investment returns as well as cost pressures coming from wage inflation and increasing pension costs.  Pressure on the public purse will increase in the next few years and this.  This together with the impacts from a rapidly changing international marketplace and the prospect of increasing the tuition fee cap, mean that institutions are taking a hard look at their medium term financial sustainability and beginning to plan their response
